Enriching Our Mother Tongue
It is to be noted that all Goans are united, wherever they may be, by its beautiful language – Konkani. All Goans want that our mother tongue Konkani and the Goan culture should be enriched by the contribution and efforts of all Goans all over the world. However, it is shocking that many Goans (especially Christians) born outside Goa erroneously take pride to disown their own mother tongue, whereas any non-Christian born outside Goa will be proud of his mother tongue and converse with it fluently.
When a situation like this persists, we bhenddekars should be proud that we have and have had great intellectuals like the late Fr. Crescencio Monteiro and Dr. Olivinho Gomes who have immensely contributed towards the growth and development of the Konkani language. We have also in our village talented artists in the field of music, who have enriched the Konkani language with Konkani audio CDs. One cannot elaborate on the subject without mentioning the internationally acclaimed (in the Konkani field) music composer Shri Mukesh Ghatwal. And the man behind these melodious CDs is none other than the popular Manddo composer and singer, the evergreen Jackson Dias, who will be presenting his third Konkani album Mogachem Tufan (Love Storm) after presenting his earlier CDs Iliana and Mogachi Kanni.
This new CD will have popular Goan artists, besides Jackson Dias, Reniy, Alwyn Gomes, Valencia, Carran, Antoneta, Valentina, Chiara , Janice, Pooja, Renu, Ansika, Decela and Patrina, while voice singing will be by Chiara and Janice.
Let us hope that many more people from different fields will come forward and contribute towards the growth of our mother tongue.
